Classic Marlborough aromas of gooseberries, cut grass and tropical fruit. Medium bodied with mouth filling citrus (especially grapefruit) and fresh herb flavours, it has lively, balanced acidity and a lovely lemony, lingering finish.
Fruit for this wine comes from vineyards situated in both the Awatere and Wairau Valleys of Marlborough, planted on a range of soils from alluvial gravels to silty loams. Canopy management techniques such as shoot thinning, leaf plucking and green harvesting are used to ensure ripe and clean fruit at harvest. The fruit for this wine is harvested at night to ensure it arrives at the winery in optimum condition.
Each vineyard block is treated separately, with fruit being harvested only when it reaches optimum ripeness and parcels processed separately to ensure good blending options. The fruit was de-stemmed, gently pressed, cold settled and racked before a cool fermentation, which retains flavour and aromatics. The wine was racked before blending, then fined, filtered and bottled.
