A mixed case of Christmas Wine Classics.
1 x Lete-Vautrain Brut 204 (Champagne) (France) £32.50: A beautifully balanced champagne with notes of apple, peach and apricot, complemented by light brioche and dried fruits. Aged 36 months in bottle, this is a genuine small grower-producer Champagne.
2 x Domaine Fournillon Chablis (France) £17.50: A family owned domaine that bottles less than 10% of their production so remain relatively unknown - for the moment. Crisp and refreshing with excellent fruit, and a generous cut of Chablis minerality. Excellent value Chablis!
2 x Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc (New Zealand) £18.00: Recognisably Marlborough, but with a nod to the Old World, showing restraint, poise and finesse. Nectarine and peach, with a fine finish of citrus and papaya. Elegant and refreshing.
1 x Guigal Crozes-Hermitage Blanc (France) £23.50: Fresh peach, tangerine, buttered citrus and floral notes. Medium-bodied and nicely textured with juicy acidity, all making for a delicious and satisfying white that will be versatile on the table.
2 x Bouchard Bourgogne Red La Vignée (France) £17.50: The venerable Bouchard domaine has over-delivered with this Bourgogne Pinot Noir. Fresh and approachable yet still retaining a real sense of Burgundian character with elegant small red fruit flavours, balance, and just a touch of spice.
2 x Chateau Haut Barrail Les Tourelles (France) £16.00: Excellent value claret from the brilliant 2016 vintage. Vinified in the traditional way, the floral touch is backed up by dark plummy flavours, chocolate and a touch of spice.
1 x Martinez-Lacuesta Rioja (Spain) £15.00: A tasty and well structured wine, deep black-cherry colour, a fruity taste and an elegant finish with perfectly integrated sensations of oakiness. Highly recommended to accompany white or red meat, game or mature cheeses. Aged in new and middle new American oak casks for a period of 18 months, rounded off with 6 more months in the bottle.
1 x Ramos Pinto LBV Port (Portugal) £22.95: Intensely fruity with ripe plums and a hint of chocolate on the nose. Elegant on the palate, with good body and some power; and a long, rich finish.
