This highly rated 2014 release has super complexity with notes of honey, sweet spice and nuts. On the palate, mature, soft and with an energetically long finish.
61% Pinot Noir, 39% Chardonnay. 19 Grands and Premiers crus: mainly Aÿ and Verzenay for the Pinot Noir, Chouilly and Oiry for the Chardonnay. Fermented entirely in aged oak barrels. Riddled and disgorged by hand. 8 grams per liter dosage.
La Grande Année is the embodiment of the carefully pre-served traditional expertise of the Bollinger Champagne House. The wine is exclusively vinified in small aged oak barrels. Champagne Bollinger has never abandoned this traditional craft method, which helps develop aromas of great finesse. After a prolonged ageing of 7.5 years on its lees under a natural cork, every bottle of La Grande Année is riddled and disgorged by hand.
Champagne Bollinger was established in 1829 by Jacques Bollinger and to this day is still family owned. Benefitting from ownership of 166 hectares of vineyards in the finest Premier and Grand Champagne Bollinger wines are defined as much by the vines the grapes come from, as by the blending process, or the House’s century old barrels in which the wines mature.
