Chateau du Tertre is a property steeped in history, being extant since the 12th century. Almost uniquely amoungst Grand Cru Classé estates its vineyard of 52 hectares remains unchanged since 1855. The vineyard benefits from an exceptional terroir on the Margaux appellation, and and average vine age of 35 years. The property found the inspiration for its name from its locatio:. Du Tertre is situated on the "tertre", which in French means hill or rising ground, which is where the vineyards are located. With a history dating back to 1143, du Tertre is one of the oldest properties in the Left Bank of Bordeaux.
