Voluptuous, silky and plush, with a core of ripe black raspberries, earth and spice. Mouth-coating layers of sweet, ripe fruits, velvety tannins and opulent, exotic textures. Concentrated and intense, yet perfectly in balance.
80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. 18 months in new French oak.
"The 2012 Tertre-Roteboeuf is without question one of the wines of the vintage." Antonio Galloni, vinous.
Château Le Tertre Rôteboeuf, is a St. Emilion Grand Cru property that is in the very top echelon of St-Emilion producers. By comment consent, it would be at least St. Emilion Grand Cru Classé B, if it decided to be part of the Grand Cru system. But it chooses not to play that particular game, and nor does it need to. With an almost cult-like status, only about 2,000 cases a year are produced from this tiny 5.7-hectare vineyard, situated on a steep slope on the edge of a limestone plateau.
