Burghound 95pts. Wild red currant and intense earthiness that suffuses the cool, elegant, admirably pure and beautifully well-detailed flavors that culminate in a linear, austere and hugely long finish.
Domaine Drouhin-Laroze in Burgundy is managed by Philippe Drouhin, now joined by his son Nicolas. They represent the 5th and 6th generations of the domaine originally founded by Jean-Baptiste Laroze in 1850. The domaine owns a total 11 hactares of prestigious vineyards, including 6 different grand crus - Chambertin Clos de Bèze, Chapelle-Chambertin, Latricières-Chambertin, Bonnes Mares, Musigny and Clos de Vougeot. Putting together a domaine like that today would be almost impossible given the price of land in Burgundy now. Its long history and experience of wine-making (and enviable vineyard holds!), the Domaine is considered amoungst the very best in Burgundy.
