This is a bold and oppulent take on Colombard. Rich and creamy with a lovely soft acidity from a prominent malolactic fermentation. Lees ageing and judicious use of old oak round out the palate. Balanced fruit notes of exotic apricot and guava with lemon zest.
Only 1,385 bottles produced in 2019.
An outrageously good wine, breaking virtually all wine "rules" ..... made with the lowly Colombard grape (used mostly for distillation into Brandy), and grown in the Northern Cape desert, just near the border with Namibia.
However, the combination of thoughtful organic vineyard practises and the wizardry of Lukas van Loggerenberg in the cellar combine to result in a wine that is a real delight.
