A tasty and well structured wine, deep black-cherry colour, a fruity taste and an elegant finish with perfectly integrated sensations of oakiness. Highly recommended to accompany white or red meat, game or mature cheeses. Aged in new and middle new American oak casks for a period of 18 months, rounded off with 6 more months in the bottle.
Bodegas Martínez Lacuesta was founded in 1895 in Haro, with financing from within the town, by Félix Martínez Lacuesta (b 1873, Haro d 1922). He was a winemaker, a lawyer, a politician, a marketing man, and the first president of the National Association of Wine-growers and Wine-producers, as well as of the Rioja Wine Union. In addition he represented bodega owners in the setting-up of the Regulatory Body of the Rioja D.O.Now under the control of the 3rd generation, Bodega Martinez-Lacuesta remains a reference point for quality Rioja wines.
