Laurent Perraud Granite de Clisson Muscadet

13 in stock

Powerful, rich and absolutely divine, this is a Muscadet to rival some of the best Chablis around, coming from the granitic Clisson soils. Candied fruit and golden pear but with a steely mineral core. Outstanding.

From vines over 50 years old planted in the grantic soils of the cru Clisson appellation, and aged for 36 months (26 of them in used oak) before release. Officially recognised as a Cru Communal in 2011, the Clisson appellation lies along a granite fault in the Massif Armoricain. Soils are a mix of gravel and rounded pebbles, promoting natural drainage and encouraging roots to reach deep down into the earth. Wines produced here require a lengthy period of aging – at least 24 months – to develop their characteristic rich flavors of candied fruit, dried fruit and quince.

Winemakers from father to son for over 7 generations, Sylvie and Laurent Perraud of Domaine de la Vinconniere carry on the know-how and traditions within the vineyard. Laurent Perraud practices sustainable agriculture certified Terra Vitis with respect for the vines, the terroir and the environment and in order to control yields and optimize quality. The vines are established on a clay-schisto-silty and granitic soil on the most famous hillsides around the city of Clisson, and produce both this outstanding Laurent Perraud Granite de Clisson Muscadet, and a super, quaffable Muscadet sur Lie.
