Very fresh and delightfully zingy with loads of passion-fruit and zesty lime flavours. Great "attack" and brilliantly enjoyable.
If the Languedoc had a classification system similar to Bordeaux, Chateau Puech-Haut would be a serious contender for First Growth classification. Widely admired as one of the regions' premier estates, Puech-Haut is located in Saint-Drézéry, about 12 miles North-East of Montpellier. Sitting close to the Pic Saint-Loupe appelation (in which it also has vineyards), it benefits from the ancient rocky clay-limestone soils of the region, the mountainous terrain which provide both ideal aspects for the vineyards and altitude for cool nights, and the moderating influence of the nearby Mediterranean. A pioneering estate since its founding in 1981, it lavishes as much care on the winemaking process as it does on the sustainability of its organically managed vineyards.
